Rules for transporting animals in buses
The Ukrainian Ministry of Communities Development together with the organization UAnimals has established new rules for transporting animals in buses. This was reported by the Deputy Minister of Community Development and Territories, Serhiy Derkach, on his Facebook page.
Every driver, every carrier, every situation - it was incredibly confusing. Now we have clear rules that will help avoid stress for passengers, carriers, and animals.
According to the new rules, small animals weighing up to 10 kilograms must be transported in containers or bags with absorbent bottoms. They can be placed on the passenger's lap, under the seat, or in a separate place provided that a separate ticket is purchased.
Medium and large dogs (from 10 to 45 kg) must be on the floor in a muzzle and on a mat, with an additional space next to the owner. Dogs weighing over 45 kg can be transported under separate rules.
Derkach emphasized that guide dogs must travel for free and be next to the people they accompany. A veterinary passport is also required for all animals.
According to Derkach, these rules aim at the humane and safe transportation of animals, as well as improving transport standards in Ukraine. This is another step towards European standards.
The rules for transporting animals in buses in Ukraine have been regulated to ensure the humane and safe transportation of animals, as well as to bring Ukrainian transport standards in line with European ones. The new rules define the conditions for transporting different categories of animals and provide recommendations for their maximum comfort and safety.Read also
