Summer has arrived in Kyiv after a rainy June. It has been the second consecutive week with temperatures ranging from 30 to 35 degrees Celsius according to the thermometer. Journalists from Novyny.LIVE found out how residents of the capital spend their summer.

How Do Kyiv Residents Fight the Heat?

Many people believe that there is no escape from the hellish heat. They drink cool beverages and try to stay outside as little as possible to avoid overheating.

“I stay at home, my house is made of brick and it is quite cool. I also make compote. I cool down with cold drinks. They are the only thing that helps, and there’s an air conditioner in the office,” said Anastasia.

Some residents of Kyiv enjoy the summer season and have fun in the sun.

“Not at all, I was waiting for the heat. I love this hell. I add more ice to my cocktail,” laughs Sava.

One way for residents of the capital to escape the heat is to go to the countryside. They relax at their summer cottages, visit local beaches, or swim in the river.

“I live in a summer house. It’s not as hot for me. I have a basement, there are trees. And the ground doesn’t heat up like asphalt in the city,” believes Olga.

It is also worth mentioning what weather to expect in the first half of July, as well as the hot periods in Europe in recent years.

The weather is hot, and Kyiv residents are looking for ways to relax and cool down during the summer days. They take various measures, from cool drinks to visiting swimming spots, to escape the hellish heat.
