American officials have prepared a package of options to increase economic pressure on Russia to force President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine. According to Bloomberg, President Donald Trump has not made a decision yet and continues diplomatic efforts. Ukraine and its allies are urging the US to intensify pressure on Moscow, including restrictions on energy exports and oil revenues. The sanctions already imposed by the US and the EU have failed to stop Russia.

Complications may arise from the removal of Mike Waltz, Trump's national security advisor, and the appointment of acting Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This reflects various ideas among senior White House officials regarding Ukraine. However, current negotiations are heading towards involving both sides in the peace process, as stated by US Vice President JD Vance in an interview on Fox News.

Trump previously threatened sanctions if Russia does not agree to peace negotiations. On his platform Truth Social, he wrote: 'There is no reason for Putin to shell populated areas. This makes me think he does not want to end the war.'
