Fuel and heating may become significantly cheaper in the EU: timelines.

In 2027, a uniform price for CO₂ emissions of 30 euros per tonne will be established in the European Union. This will lead to a decrease in the cost of gasoline and heating in Germany at the early stage. By 2030, the price will rise to 60 euros per tonne.
'From 2027, the uniform price for CO₂ emissions in all EU countries will become the main tool in the fight against climate change. Initially, this price will be lower than it is now in Germany, so refueling and heating will become cheaper again. Finally, the EU helps both the environment and the wallet!'
An expert believes this demonstrates that Brussels understands that the fight against climate change can only be successful if citizens are not burdened with excessive prices. It is much better to involve all EU countries with a lower initial CO₂ price than to allow individual countries or politicians to work independently on this issue.
The expert also believes that prohibitions are not the best solution, but it is worth strengthening the price of CO₂ as an incentive for climate protection. This principle can also be applied to internal combustion engines, where the EU should set ambitious climate goals without imposing bans.
This energy transition, according to him, has been eagerly awaited by millions of German drivers and heating consumers.
Analysis
The decision to establish a uniform price for CO₂ emissions in the EU is an important step in the fight against climate change. This will contribute to reducing emissions and calming citizens who do not want to overpay for refueling a car or heating.
Using the CO₂ price as an incentive for climate protection is an important step in the right direction. Prohibitions may cause negative resonance and resistance from citizens, whereas an incentive system will ensure the participation of all EU countries and joint efforts to reduce CO₂ emissions. This will help make a greater breakthrough in the fight against climate change and the development of sustainable energy.
