The Dalai Lama intends to live for more than 130 years

On the eve of his 90th birthday, the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, the Dalai Lama, stated that he intends to live for another 40 years. He also emphasized that he plans to reincarnate after his death, as prescribed by Buddhism. He will adhere to the teachings of reincarnation throughout his life. This was reported by Reuters.

The possibility of living to 130 years old was announced by the Dalai Lama during a special ceremony in Dharamshala – a mountain town in India where he has lived since 1959 after fleeing Tibet. This prediction far exceeds his previous expectations by two decades.

“So far I have served the Buddhadharma (Buddhist teachings - ed.) and the people of Tibet quite well,” he said between prayers, occasionally clearing his throat. “And yet I hope to live for over 130 years.”

During the ceremony in Dharamshala, the Dalai Lama emphasized that even with all the trials faced by Tibetans, he has been able to benefit people. He expressed his desire to continue helping people and promoting Buddhist teachings. He also reiterated his wish to live longer than he planned before, over 130 years.

The Dalai Lama, Jetsun Jampahel Ngawang Lobzang Yeshe Tenzin Gyatso, will turn 90 years old on July 6.

After his 90th birthday, the Dalai Lama decided to live for no less than 130 years, surpassing his own expectations. He also confirmed his intentions to be reborn after death according to Buddhist teachings.
