Owners of cars from the USA in Ukraine have received warnings about possible penalties. According to SUV News, lawyers from 'Road Lawyer' point this out. Ukrainian owners of American cars may face problems due to incorrect turn signal colors. The police are increasingly checking such vehicles. Recently, it has become common to buy damaged cars from the USA at low prices at auctions, bring them to Ukraine, restore them, and register them. There are even companies that specialize in importing 'wrecked' American cars, repairing them, and reselling them. However, sellers often do not mention one important issue.
According to the Ukrainian standard DSTU 3649:2010, all cars must have yellow turn signals, while in the USA red ones are allowed. The patrol police easily notice such vehicles on the road and issue a fine of 340 hryvnias under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. In the case of a repeated violation, the fine may increase to 850-1700 hryvnias. In addition, the driver may lose their rights for 3-6 months or receive an administrative arrest for 10 days. It was previously reported that drivers could lose their rights due to debts.
Analysis:
The purchase, restoration, and registration of damaged cars from the USA have become popular in Ukraine. However, owners of such vehicles need to remember the requirements regarding the color of turn signals. Otherwise, they may become the focus of police attention and face fines and loss of rights.Read also
