JD Vance Speaks at the Munich Conference
U.S. Vice President JD Vance sharply criticized European countries at the Munich Security Conference on February 14, 2025. He also urged Ukraine and Russia to reach an agreement, while calling on Europe to take on more responsibility for the continent.
'The threat to Europe is not Russia, not China, not any other external factors. I am concerned about security from within, the departure of Europe from some of its most important values that the U.S. shares,' Vance emphasized.
In particular, the American vice president is dissatisfied with the actions of the European Commission regarding social media and criticizes the policies of the European Union, particularly the cancellation of elections in Romania, calling it a 'departure from democracy.' He asked: 'When European courts annul election results, we ask: 'What are these standards?''
'If people express their opinion and are punished for it, then the Trump administration will do the opposite. We may have different opinions. And we will work to ensure that these different opinions can exist,' JD Vance emphasized.
