Ukrainian film won at the Strasbourg Film Festival.


Pavlo Ostrikov's film "You Are the Cosmos" received the main award at the European Fantastic Film Festival in Strasbourg. This news is reported by the State Film Agency.
"You Are the Cosmos" received the main award of the festival - Golden Octopus, as well as Silver Melies, which gives the opportunity to participate in competitions for the most prestigious European award - Golden Melies.
The world premiere of the film "You Are the Cosmos" took place at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) as part of the Discovery program.
In 2020, the project of this film became one of the winners of the competitive selection by the State Film Agency, after which the preparation for filming began. Complex pavilion decorations were created at the National Cinematheque of Ukraine for the film, along with an animatronic robot that moved in the frame, and concepts of the spaceship and interiors to showcase space scenes.
The film tells the story of Andrii, a Ukrainian truck driver who becomes the sole survivor after the Earth explodes. He establishes contact with French scientist Catherine, and together they decide to meet despite the great distance.
The film's main role was played by Volodymyr Kravchuk, who is currently a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and his partner was a robot voiced by Leonid Popadko, also a serviceman.
The creation of the film was supported by the State Film Agency and the company ForeFilms, with the participation of Ukraine and Belgium. The Ukrainian release is planned for the spring of 2025.
We also remind you that the world premiere of the documentary "Family Album" by Maryna Tkachuk will take place at the Warsaw International Film Festival on October 13, 2024. The film will be presented in the Documentary Competition section.
