Ukrainian women will not be able to retire at 60: who will have to work longer.

The Law of Ukraine No. 3668-VI, adopted in 2011, established the retirement age for women. Previously, women retired at 50 years old, but starting from 2021, they can receive retirement from 60 years old. The retirement age for men has also been increased to 60 years.
In addition to the age criteria, women must also have a certain work experience to receive retirement. For example, for women who reach the age of 60, the minimum experience must be 32 years. If a woman has less experience, she will be able to retire only at the age of 63.
The possibility to buy the missing work experience also exists, but it is quite an expensive option, costing about 21,120 hryvnias per year. Therefore, this option is not suitable for many women.
It is also important to note that the Time spent on maternity leave is counted towards the insurance experience. For example, a woman who had five children and was on maternity leave for 3 years with each can accumulate 15 years of experience, even if she did not work during that time.
Thus, a woman with 29 years of work experience and 3 years of maternity leave can accumulate the necessary 32 years of experience and retire at 60 years old, rather than waiting until 63.
Recently, the indicator for calculating the pension has also changed in Ukraine.
