Protest held in Toronto against the screening of a Russian film at the film festival.

The Ukrainian community in Canada held a protest in Toronto, demanding the cancellation of the screening of a Russian propaganda film at the International Film Festival. This was reported by the Consul General of Ukraine in Toronto, Oleg Nikolenko.
Today we gathered in Toronto to demand that the Toronto International Film Festival not show the Russian propaganda film "Russians at War". The festival should not provide a platform for whitewashing the crimes of Russian soldiers in Ukraine. Their place is on the bench of the International Criminal Court, not on movie screens," said Nikolenko.
The consul emphasized the irresponsibility and unacceptability of ignoring the attempts of Russian propaganda to downplay and distort the realities of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Nikolenko called for the cancellation of the film screening and clarification of how it received state funding in Canada.
"Russians at War" is a documentary film by director Anastasia Trofimova, who spent a lot of Time with a Russian battalion in eastern Ukraine. The film has already been shown in Venice.
On the eve of the rally in Toronto, Kyiv expressed a strong protest against the film's screening at the International Film Festival. The Verkhovna Rada also called on Canada not to present the film about Russian occupiers at the festival.
