A passenger plane's engine caught fire during a flight in the USA.

In the USA, an American Airlines plane with 153 passengers returned to Las Vegas airport after smoke and flames were observed coming from one of its engines. The incident occurred in the morning after the flight had departed from Harry Reid International Airport. The left engine of the Airbus A321 began to smoke, and nine minutes later the aircraft returned to the airport.

American Airlines stated that the maintenance team found no signs of engine fire. The aircraft itself transported the passengers to the gate where they disembarked. The Airbus A321 was taken out of service for assessment of the circumstances of what happened.

It is worth recalling that a Russian-made passenger aircraft, the Superjet-100, which was flying from Moscow to Batumi in Georgia, also experienced an incident during flight when its hood detached. The plane was urgently returned to Vnukovo airport, where a 'blue' code was declared - an aviation event accompanied by an emergency landing.

Returning to Las Vegas airport due to flames in the engine of the American Airlines aircraft, the passengers were fortunate that the crew swiftly took control of the aircraft and safely delivered them to their destination. Such incidents remind us of the importance of safety in civil aviation and the professionalism of pilots in critical situations.
