The Senate of the Czech Republic will consider a resolution recognizing the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people
In December, the Senate of the Czech Republic plans to consider a resolution regarding the recognition of the genocide of the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people. This was reported by Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský at a meeting with representatives of the Mejlis.
According to the Mejlis, the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense, and Security unanimously approved the draft resolution. This resolution will be considered at the next meeting of the Senate, which will take place in December this year.
The head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Refat Chubarov, expressed his gratitude to the Czech authorities for their support and solidarity with the Crimean Tatar people. He also noted the constant comprehensive support of Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression and the restoration of territorial integrity.
The deportation of the Crimean Tatar people has already been recognized as an act of genocide by Ukraine in 2015, Latvia and Lithuania in 2019, Canada in 2022, and Poland and Estonia in 2024.
