The European Union continues to grapple with record volumes of imported Russian liquefied natural gas, despite calls to ban it. According to Bloomberg, Europe imported 15.5 million tons of LNG from Russia in 2024, the highest figure in recent years.
In 2022, this volume was 13.7 million tons. The main supplier of gas is the company 'Novatek'. Russia also plans to significantly increase its gas exports, but sanctions are already starting to affect these plans.
The 'Arctic LNG 2' project is facing difficulties due to restrictions on access to ice-class tankers. The ban on transshipping cargo from the 'Yamal LNG' project may also complicate logistics for supplies to Asia.
