Turn right at the theater. Actors of the capital theater appealed to the Kharkiv OVA.

The actors of the Kyiv Drama and Comedy Theater on the Left Bank of the Dnipro appealed to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleg Synegubov, with a call to 'return Kharkiv the right to the theater'. They made this appeal public on Facebook, reports 'Glavcom'.
We are addressing the head of the Kharkiv OVA, Mr. Synegubov. Due to the difficult economic situation caused by the full-scale war, theaters in Kharkiv are on the verge of survival. Insufficient funding makes it impossible to realize artistic projects and to meet basic needs such as: salary payments, utility payments, preserving property and technical equipment– the actors' appeal states.
In particular, the actresses emphasized the state of critical infrastructure of theatrical institutions, as many of them lack proper shelters, which makes it impossible to hold performances in appropriate conditions.
Moreover, the material and technical base is worn out and needs upgrading. Theater is not just art, but also an important component of the humanitarian front, which supports the moral spirit of the population, especially during wartime. We demand understanding of the importance of this issue and support during such a difficult Time for the country. We cannot wait for the war to end. We must work right now. Kharkiv has the right to its culture. Return Kharkiv the right to the theater!– the actors emphasized.
Social media users supported the actors in the comments and thanked them for this appeal.
Deprivation of funding for the theater in Kharkiv
It should be reminded that in March 2023, the regional government in Kharkiv deprived the academic Ukrainian Drama Theater named after T. Shevchenko of funding. The letter mentions the suspension of employment contracts, and the reimbursement of salaries, guarantees, and compensation payments was laid on the state of the aggressor.
As representatives of the Kharkiv organization of the party 'European Solidarity' noted, they received information about similar precedents from other theatrical institutions in Kharkiv.
The actors of the theater expressed serious concerns about the future of theatrical affairs in Kharkiv and called on the authorities to pay attention to the problem of theater funding, not to leave them without support during wartime, and emphasized the importance of theater for the community.
