Trump Announced the Start of Negotiations Between Russia and Ukraine

US President Donald Trump reported that the result of his conversation with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, will be the start of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine aimed at ending the ceasefire and concluding the war. The conversation between the leaders lasted two hours, and they agreed on the conditions for the ceasefire that 'will be discussed between the two sides, as it should be.'

'I just finished a two-hour conversation with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin... Russia and Ukraine will immediately begin negotiations for a ceasefire and, more importantly, END the war,' - wrote Trump.

Additionally, the American president reported on the results of the conversation between Zelensky and the leaders of European countries. He also pointed out that the Pope expressed interest in taking over the negotiations. Trump emphasized that the economic prospects for ending the war will be beneficial for both countries, Russia and Ukraine.

'Russia wants to engage in large-scale TRADE with the United States when this catastrophic 'bloody slaughter' ends, and I agree... Ukraine can also achieve significant trade benefits in rebuilding their country,' - emphasized Trump.

Background of the Negotiations

According to information from The Wall Street Journal, Trump consulted Zelensky before the conversation with Putin about what he should discuss with the Russian president. Zelensky suggested to Trump to discuss the possibility of a 30-day ceasefire and to hold a summit with the participation of the American president.

Trump's phone calls first with Putin and then with Zelensky lasted over two hours. After the conversation between Zelensky and Trump, Putin declared the possibility of a ceasefire in Ukraine after relevant agreements were reached. US Vice President Jay D. Vance also proposed a 'thawing of Russia's relations with the whole world' in exchange for peace in Ukraine.
