Law on the reduction of water quality
According to the document, drinking water supply enterprises can temporarily deviate from the quality standards of water in case of lack of funds. Expert Oleg Popenko called this initiative absurd.
According to statistics, from 2014 to 2025, water tariffs in Ukraine rose 10-11 times, but the quality of water remained at the same level. With the possibility of lowering standards, the situation may worsen.
The expert noted that the law was agreed upon with water utilities, but the interests of consumers were not taken into account. He criticized the authorities for their lack of attention to consumers' problems. Oleg Popenko believes that obtaining reliable water is becoming more difficult for Ukrainians, which may affect family budgets as people will look for alternative sources of drinking water or spend money on water purification systems.
