Mudryk may return to football in spring — what is known.

The Football Association of England has formally charged Ukraine national team player Mykhailo Mudryk in connection with violations of anti-doping rules. The substance meldonium was found in the Chelsea player's system.
Guardian: 'This substance is banned in professional sports.'
The 'B' sample confirmed the result, and now Mykhailo Mudryk faces up to four years of suspension from football. The next step is the consideration of the case by an independent anti-corruption panel, which will determine how severe the punishment will be.
Return to the field and legal aspects
If he cooperates with the commission and partially admits his guilt, the Ukrainian winger may hope for a reduced sentence. In an optimistic scenario, he could return to the field in spring 2026. However, if the case takes a hard path, the disqualification could last until the end of 2028.
While Mudryk is suspended from training and matches, the club continues to pay him his salary. Additionally, Shakhtar, the former club of the player, may not receive the bonus payments stipulated in the contract. Everything depends on how long Mudryk will be out of the game and how the legal situation develops.
The footballer has already engaged a well-known law firm that previously defended Paul Pogba, indicating a serious approach and an attempt to reduce the penalties. It is also important that in public statements, Mudryk has not denied the presence of the substance but asserts that he did not use it knowingly.
Ukrainian footballer Mykhailo Mudryk has become a central figure in the case concerning violations of anti-doping rules. His suspension from the game is still ongoing, but there is a chance for its reduction if he cooperates with the commission and takes legal measures. The fate of the footballer remains in question until all the nuances of this scandalous case are resolved.
