Full-Time students have the opportunity to receive a deferment from conscription into the Armed Forces, but there are exceptions. Some categories of students may still be summoned.

«Glavkom» reports who among students may receive a summons.

The mobilization of students is regulated by the Law of Ukraine No. 10449. Students, graduate students, and doctoral candidates who are obtaining their first higher education in full-time or dual form and can study remotely are entitled to a deferment.

To avoid conscription, a student must obtain a deferment from the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC). If a student is over 25 years old and has not received a deferment, they may be sent a summons.

Who May Be Summoned Among Students

  • The student studies part-time or in the evening;
  • The student is obtaining a second or subsequent higher or vocational education;
  • The student has military status (has served or has military experience);
  • The student has been expelled;
  • The student has not received or renewed a deferment;
  • The student is between levels of education (for example, during the break between bachelor's and master's studies).

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine reports that enterprises will be able to continue retaining their employees only after updating their critical status according to new requirements.

Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Vitaliy Kindratyiv stated that most responsible companies have already updated their status with government authorities and retained their employees.

«Re-reserved employees still have valid deferments after April first» - stated Vitaliy Kindratyiv.

Kyiv police are searching for individuals who evade conscription into military service. Last year, several individuals who were evading were detained and taken to territorial recruitment and social support centers.
