Elevators Are Being Shut Down in Kyiv High-Rise Buildings

In Kyiv, management companies have started mass shutdowns of elevators in high-rise buildings to force residents to sign new contracts following the management competition. This was reported by the head of the Union of Consumers of Utility Services, Oleg Popenko.

'Management companies have begun to blackmail people by shutting down elevators under the pretext of not signing new contracts. This is a systemic problem that requires the intervention of regulatory bodies,' the expert stated.

Oleg Popenko also noted that about a hundred Kyiv residents have already filed complaints about the pressure they are experiencing from management companies, but this is just a part of all cases.

The expert pointed out that there is currently a strategy being formulated to combat this problem and urged Kyiv residents to actively defend their rights and unite to solve this issue.

'This is a real confrontation with the residents of the capital that needs to be resolved together,' Popenko emphasized.

The public figure is outraged that the most vulnerable segments of the population, especially pensioners, have to suffer from the actions of management companies, who act without restraint.

Such situations confirm the need for increased control by the authorities and attention to consumer rights in the utility sector.
