In the evening of May 2, the city of Kharkiv suffered a new blow from enemy drones. This was reported by Mayor Ihor Terekhov and the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Oleg Synehubov.
According to Oleg Synehubov, as a result of the massive shelling, almost 50 civilians in the city were injured.
Currently, 47 injured individuals are known.
Among the victims is an 11-year-old child. Eight people are in moderate condition in the city's hospitals.
Four districts of Kharkiv were shelled: Slobidskyi, Saltivskyi, Kyivskyi, and Osnovianskyi.
«There were and could be no military targets. Russia strikes at residential buildings precisely when Ukrainians are at home, when they are putting their children to bed. Such orders can only be given and executed by inhuman beings,» - said Zelensky.
As a result of the attacks, large fires broke out, causing damage to residential buildings, civilian infrastructure, and private vehicles.
Currently, rescue and medical services are involved in eliminating the consequences of the shelling. The injured are receiving necessary assistance.
President's Reaction
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to the massive shelling of Kharkiv by the enemy and stated:
«While the world hesitates to make decisions, almost every night in Ukraine turns into a nightmare, leading to the loss of lives. We need to strengthen the air defense system.»
Active military operations against Ukraine continue. Kharkiv remains one of the enemy's main targets.
