Ukraine and Russia develop diplomatic relations
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umjewrow, reported on the continuation of the diplomatic process with Russia following a meeting in Turkey on May 16. According to him, the Ukrainian side is ready for a complete and unconditional ceasefire as well as further diplomatic negotiations. The Russian side has completed work on the memorandum but is hesitant to hand it over to the Ukrainian side.
Ukraine reaffirms its readiness for a complete and unconditional ceasefire and further diplomatic efforts. Umjewrow emphasized that Ukraine has no objection to meetings with the Russians and is waiting for their memorandum so that the meeting is not in vain and can actually contribute to ending the war.
The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, announced a second round of negotiations in Istanbul on June 2, during which the Russian side plans to present a memorandum on the ceasefire. Russia has rejected the transfer of the memorandum through the USA and agreed on a direct document handover.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry confirmed the visit of Minister Hakan Fidan to Ukraine on May 29-30, which could support the next round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, expressed concern about the ongoing fire and the delay in the development of events.
The acceptance of the memorandum between Ukraine and Russia requires detailed diplomatic negotiations and international cooperation. It is important for both sides to show flexibility and mutual understanding to achieve a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
