Dual Solidarity: How Germans Really Feel About Ukraine.

Germans Share Their Feelings About Supporting Ukraine
According to a survey, 46% of Germans oppose providing aid to Ukraine, while only 28% support this decision. However, another survey indicates that 67% of Germans support Ukraine in the context of military actions. Both surveys were conducted by reputable institutions.
The German government has decided to accept conflict participants who have fled Ukraine without the asylum application process. Over 1.3 million people have arrived in Germany, with about 700,000 receiving assistance from the government. Furthermore, Germany has supplied Ukraine with heavy weapons, but this affects the state budget.
A recent survey showed that 52% of Germans would agree to accept territories that Russia has already occupied in Ukraine if the war were to end sooner. Even in the eastern part of Germany, the majority of citizens support this view.
There is also a noticeable decline in donations for Ukraine's needs. One organization received only 15 million euros, compared to 253 million euros last year. Experts claim this is related to the chancellor's mistakes.
Germany has always been involved in international conflicts but has never taken the lead. However, if the U.S. turns away from Ukraine and Europe, Germany will become the focus of security policy. This could lead to a new role for the country and result in social discrepancies.
