Debts in the energy market will not disappear without government intervention – expert.

Energy expert Hennadiy Ryabtsev pointed out that the problem of the state's debt to electricity producers is systemic and requires government intervention for resolution. He noted that without state support, producers will not be able to independently solve this problem.
«Without government intervention, nothing can be done about these debts. I don't know who can handle this», emphasized Ryabtsev.
According to the expert, one of the reasons for this state of affairs is the lack of willingness of the government to reduce the list of privileged consumers. He noted that only a third of industrial enterprises are critically important for the country, while the rest are private companies.
The situation with changes in the market
Ryabtsev reminded that the president and the National Security and Defense Council had already discussed the necessity for changes, but the Cabinet of Ministers has not made any decisions on this matter yet. The deadlines for implementing innovations have been postponed again, and now they are scheduled for the end of 2025, although they should have been adopted earlier.
«The issue of reducing the list of privileged consumers has been postponed until the end of the current year and the IV quarter of 2025, although according to the decision of the National Security and Defense Council, it should have been resolved back in the middle of last year», emphasized the expert.
According to Olha Savchenko, who heads the legal committee of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, the problem of debt for electricity from alternative energy sources remains relevant, as only half of the settlements were made in 2022.
The issue of the state's debt to electricity producers and the importance of changes in the electricity market require close attention and real steps from the government. Producers and market participants hope for a swift resolution of the problem to improve conditions in the sector.
Expert comments and representatives of the industry emphasize the urgency of the situation with debts to electricity producers and the need for quick government action to resolve issues in the sector. It is important to maintain stability in the electricity market and provide fair conditions for all participants.Read also
