ISW analysts reveal where the Russian Federation is redirecting forces instead of advancing on Kostiantynivka.

Russia postpones the offensive on Kostiantynivka
According to the Institute for the Study of War, Russia is postponing its planned offensive on Kostiantynivka due to issues in the area near Chasiv Yar. Analysts point to the inability of Russian troops to break through Ukraine's defenses, complicating Russia's plans for large-scale offensive operations.
The redeployment of forces indicates a reassessment of strategy by Russian command and a possible shift of focus to northern Ukraine. Analysts believe that the Russian Federation may not have enough reserves to conduct offensives in several directions simultaneously.
The Russian military command may assess that Russian troops have a better chance of significant advancement in the northern Sumy region than near Chasiv Yar
At his latest meeting, Putin discussed the creation of a buffer zone in the northern Sumy region, which could serve as a pretext for expanding Russia's claims to Ukrainian territory beyond already occupied regions.
Putin announced the start of the project to create a security buffer zone, despite expressed reactions. Russian forces continue to be active near the border with Ukraine while simultaneously shelling Ukrainian positions.
Currently, it is the 1089th day of the war in Ukraine, with intense activity in frontline areas. This indicates Ukraine's continuous readiness to defend its territory against Russian aggression.
