The lawyer named the categories of students who may lose their deferment from May.

The Ukrainian lawyer and former deputy of the Kyiv Regional Council Roman Simutin reported that students will not be mobilized from May 1. A bill No. 13193 has already been registered in the Verkhovna Rada, which provides for changes in the mobilization system. In particular, this bill proposes to reduce the categories of students who have the right to deferment from conscription for military service.
Ukrainian legislation grants graduate students, undergraduates, doctoral candidates, and lecturers the right to exemption from service. However, additional checks may be introduced for graduate students, including an English language exam. If a graduate student does not pass such an exam, they may be expelled from the university.
To apply for deferment, students need to contact the Territorial Military Registration Commission where they are registered and present the relevant documents. It is not necessary to undergo a military medical examination to obtain deferment, except for individuals who have been recognized as unfit for service. Deferment can also be arranged through the 'Reserve+' system.
It is important to note that if a student does not apply for deferment and is mobilized, it will be nearly impossible for them to be discharged from military service. There are also restrictions on the ability to travel abroad for students.
