September 21: What Holiday is Today, Traditions and Prohibitions.


Today, September 21, Ukraine celebrates several important holidays. It is the Day of the Pharmaceutical Worker, the Day of the Inventor and Innovator, International Day of Peace and Peace Day in Ukraine, and also Surgeon’s Day. On this day, believers also commemorate Saint Apostle Kondrat.
The Day of the Pharmaceutical Worker is established to honor the role of pharmacists, chemists, and other specialists in ensuring the health of the population. More than 350,000 pharmaceutical workers help Ukrainians obtain medicines and consultations, working daily on preserving and strengthening health. They not only dispense medicines but also provide consultations on treatment and rational use of drugs.
The Day of the Inventor and Innovator is intended to recognize the contribution of inventors, innovators, and engineering-technical workers in developing the country's innovative potential. Various events are held on this day, including exhibitions and awards.
The International Day of Peace and Peace Day in Ukraine are celebrated to reinforce the idea of peace among all countries and peoples. It is a symbol of hope and compassion for those who seek the end of military conflicts and the creation of a world without wars. On this day, the UN General Assembly calls for a global ceasefire and renunciation of violence.
Surgeon’s Day is designated to honor the brave doctors who daily save lives and health of people. Surgeons perform complex operations and restore health and hope to people.
Folk omens and traditions are associated with weather and nature. Early fallen leaves from trees may indicate an early winter, clear weather can signify a warm autumn. Name days celebrated on this day are: Andriy, Valentin, Vasyl, Volodymyr, Danylo, Dmytro, Ivan, Yosyp, Kostiantyn, Nestor, Oleksandr and Petro.
